I am a believer that individuals have the resilience, skills, and knowledge to adjust to all that life brings. Despite this, sometimes professional support may be useful to help navigate emotional distress and life changes. Therapy allows individuals to explore their experiences in a supportive place and my role is to help develop new ways to think, feel, act and connect with yourself and others. There is no doubt that starting or returning to therapy can be a huge step which may lead to feelings of anxiety. My aim, above all, is to build a connected, understanding and compassionate relationship with my clients to help with the huge step that is starting therapy and create a safe base to explore their experiences.
My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and non-judgemental to empower individuals to overcome emotional difficulties and repetitive patterns that they may be experiencing. I work in an integrative manner, meaning I draw from a range of helpful techniques from CBT, ACT, CFT, mindfulness and attachment-based approaches.
In my experience, it is best to take a flexible approach to therapy and find out what will be most helpful for the individuals I work with. We will spend time together in the first few sessions of therapy to come to a joint understanding of what may be the most difficult for you. We will use your strengths and skills to work together to take steps in the right direction to help you build a more fulfilling life, whatever that might look like for you.
It is a privilege to be entrusted by individuals as they share their experiences throughout the therapy journey. Therapy can be powerful for both client and therapist and I genuinely feel honoured to witness the courage and strength of individuals along their therapy journey.
